Richard M. Blaylock currently serves as an elder at Saving Grace Church in Milwaukie, Oregon, and, up until recently, he was assistant professor of biblical studies (May 2022 until July 2025) and director of the Master of Theology program at Western Seminary. He founded and directs the Center for Evangelical Biblical Theology, which is an organization dedicated to elevating the study and practice of biblical theology for the good of the church and the glory of God (cebt.online). He has published two books on the subject of divine reprobating activity with Pickwick Publications. He has also had his work published with journals such as JETS, Horizons in Biblical Theology, Themelios, and SBJT. In addition, he contributed two essays for TGC’s Concise Theology series (“The Gift of Prophecy” and “The Doctrine of Reprobation”). He has written numerous book reviews for Reading Religion, JETS, Themelios, SBJT, and other publications, and he regularly presents papers at both national and regional ETS meetings.
Dr. Blaylock specializes in the fields of biblical theology and New Testament theology. He has taught graduate-level courses on the Gospels, Acts through Revelation, Understanding Biblical Theology, Hermeneutics, Elementary Greek, Greek Syntax, the Greek Exegesis of Galatians, Contours in New Testament Theology, Issues in Pauline Theology, the Exposition of Matthew, and Introduction to the Prophets. In addition, he has also served as a first reader on a number of ThM theses. He also has had experience teaching in international settings and has a wealth of experience preaching and teaching in the local church.
Dr. Blaylock is happily married to his wife, Caitlin. They have three lovely children, Addi (8), Ellie (6), and Tobiah (2). In addition, they also care for a very large American Akita named Cloud.
