The article surveys the contents, setting, and purpose of the book of Malachi. It presents the structure of the book as comprising three addresses. The first address (1:2-2:9) deals with the priests’ attitude and behavior toward God; the second address (2:10-3:6) deals with the behavior of the people toward one another, especially men toward their wives; the third address (3:7-4:6) deals with the behavior of the people toward their possessions, especially in tithing.
