Job Description:
Logos Evangelical Seminary invites applications for a full-time faculty position as Assistant/Associate professor of Old Testament . Primary responsibilities include teaching master’s – level courses, including distance programs. Courses at the ThM/PhD-level may also be assigned. The successful candidate will join a dynamic faculty committed to excellence in theological education and scholarly inquiry. Because of the seminary’s bilingual context, the candidate must be fluent in both English and Mandarin, with the ability to teach in Mandarin and engage in academic discussion in both languages.
Responsibilities:
Teach graduate-level Old Testament courses, primarily at the master’s level (core and electives).
Develop and revise course syllabi, assignments, and assessments to ensure alignment with program objectives and standards of academic excellence.
Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the curriculum in collaboration with faculty and administration.
Engage in scholarly research and publication that advances knowledge in the field of Old Testament studies.
Participate in departmental and institutional activities, including faculty meetings, committees, and academic events.
Represent the seminary within academic and professional circles through conference presentations, workshops, and other scholarly engagements.
Fulfill other duties as assigned by the academic dean or department chair.
Qualifications:
A doctoral degree (PhD) in Old Testament studies or a related field from an accredited institution.
Bilingual fluency in English and Mandarin. Candidates must be able to teach courses in Mandarin, communicate effectively in both languages, and demonstrate the ability to read and evaluate academic work (including dissertations and scholarly publications) in Chinese.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the master’s level, with a strong commitment to student engagement. Ability to teach ThM/PhD-level courses is desirable.
A proven record of scholarly research and publication in Old Testament studies (area of specialization open).
Experience in curriculum development and program administration, preferably in a theological education context.
Commitment to the seminary’s mission, vision, and core values, with respect for diverse theological perspectives within an evangelical framework.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to a collegial academic environment.
Active participation in professional academic societies and networks.
