Biola University announces a full-time, tenure track faculty positions in the undergraduate program of Talbot School of Theology beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will begin at the rank of assistant professor or associate professor (level to be determined commensurate with education and experience).
Candidates must be willing to relocate in order to work in residence at Talbot’s campus in La Mirada, CA.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Faculty members are subject matter experts in their respective disciplines who actively integrate their faith in teaching, research, and life. This faculty position fulfills the following duties:
Teach 24 units per year (12 units per semester) in undergraduate courses in Old Testament. Teaching load will consist of Old Testament History and Literature, other Bible major and minor classes, and Old Testament electives.
Provide academic and professional advisement to students.
Remain current in their field by engaging in research, scholarship, and publication.
Serve as a faculty team member on department and university committees as assigned.
Participate in campus, university, local church, and community service activities.
Participate in other professional duties.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate:
Completed doctorate in Old Testament or a similar field (required).
Academic training, expertise, and research publications in the general discipline of Old Testament
Experience teaching in the field of Old Testament with willingness to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Ability to teach undergraduate courses online.
Demonstration of excellent teaching skills.
Broad knowledge of the current state of Old Testament studies
Strong, current qualitative research capacity.
Background in theological studies.
Candidates must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching, evidence of scholarly activity, and potential to make significant contributions to their scholarly fields.
Mature Christian character with a demonstrated commitment to service in their local church.
Other ministry experience is preferred.
