Position Summary:
Phoenix Seminary is now accepting applications for a full-time, residential faculty position in Church History. The position is open rank and will begin on July 1, 2026. Preference will be given to individuals with competence in another area of the curriculum, ideally practical theology.
The successful appointee will teach church history survey courses, church history elective courses related to their area of expertise as well as teach in another area of the curriculum as noted above; engage in scholarly research and participate in the wider life of the Seminary. Rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Application review will begin immediately and continue through October 17, 2025
Principal Responsibilities:
· Teach 18 hours per year in master’s programs
· Research, publish, and participate in scholarly societies
· Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as required
· Participate in the communal life of the Seminary as detailed in the faculty handbook (e.g. through attendance at chapel, New Student Orientation, etc.)
· Supervise student theses across all academic programs
· Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Academic Affairs
Qualifications:
· A completed PhD or ThD in church history, historical theology, or closely related field
· Personal godliness as evidenced in line with the NT qualifications for an elder
· Full agreement with the Phoenix Seminary faculty teaching position
· Teaching experience
· A record of publication commensurate with the candidate’s career stage
· Evidence of a strong commitment to the local church, including being a member in good standing of an evangelical, Protestant church
· Pastoral experience (preferred)
