Professor of Old Testament and Biblical Languages

Westminster Theological Seminary seeks to fill a full-time, voting faculty position in the department of Old Testament with potential cross-departmental teaching in the Pastoral Theology department. The responsibilities will focus on teaching biblical languages, Old Testament history and theology, and research methodologies relevant to biblical studies. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will be willing and able to teach in the Pastoral Theology department, especially on topics such as preaching and pastoral ministry.

Commitment to the tradition and method of Geerhardus Vos and Richard Gaffin, and eager commitment to leading the Hebrew curriculum are highly valued. In addition to qualifications in the realm of Old Testament and Pastoral Theology, the successful candidate will manifest a keen understanding of and commitment to the theology of the Westminster Standards and the distinctives of Westminster Theological Seminary.

Teaching and mentoring students in the residential, global, and online programs.
Teaching Biblical Languages (Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic) in the residential program. Competencies in other ancient Near Eastern languages are desirable.
Coordinating and overseeing the Hebrew language curriculum.
Ensuring course delivery attains intended outcomes, and working with colleagues on meeting assessment criteria
Committing to furthering the mission of Westminster through publishing.
Supervising Ph.D. dissertations.
Supporting and contributing to the mission and strategies of WTS.
Teach courses in pastoral ministry and preaching, as needed.
Carry out various additional administrative responsibilities.
Serving the Seminary’s stewardship initiative by speaking at strategic conferences, writing, and supporting events on and off campus.
