Director of the Dewey Center for Chaplaincy

The essential functions, responsibilities, and qualifications of the Director of the Dewey Center for Chaplaincy include the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide leadership for the development of CSU’s Dewey Center for Chaplaincy.
2. Develop a strong working relationship and consult with Rob and Kathy Dewey (the Donors) to accomplish the vision and mission of the Dewey Center for Chaplaincy.
3. Work with the Donor to grow/maintain a network of relationships and partnerships across a variety of denominational lines and partner types, beginning with organizations and individuals in the Lowcountry and expanding regionally, nationally, and internationally.
4. Develop and deploy applied training opportunities, to include ride-alongs with local first responders. Work with the faculty of the College of Christian Studies to provide ride-along training opportunities to undergraduate students in Chaplaincy, where and as appropriate.
5. Prepare and oversee budgets related to the Dewey Center for Chaplaincy.
6. Lead the Dewey Center for Chaplaincy to provide appropriate training events, non-college credit certification courses, and other activities.
7. Work with CSU’s Marketing and Communications department to market the Dewey Center for Chaplaincy, center events, and the events of partner organizations.
8. Work with CSU’s Enrollment team and Marketing and Communications department to recruit students to the College of Christian Studies, especially the BA in Chaplaincy and minor in Chaplaincy.
Represent the University through involvement in and presence at local, statewide, and national chaplaincy organizations and 9. meetings.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. The individual has a Ph.D, D.Min. or equivalent (or is ABD) in Chaplaincy, Pastoral Theology, Applied Theology, or other related field.
2. The individual has a minimum of eight years of full-time chaplaincy experience. Preference will be given to candidates who possess certifications or have taken continuing education courses such as Critical Incident Stress Management (International Critical Incident Stress Foundation certification) and Incident Command System (FEMA).
3. The individual is an ordained Southern Baptist minister.
4. The individual can affirm the Baptist Faith and Message (2000), the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, and the Danvers Statement on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood as being a faithful representation of their personal convictions.
