The Applied Theology and Church Ministries Field of Moody Bible Institute seeks to appoint a full-time faculty member to its Chicago campus in preparation for Spring 2022 or for the 2022-2023 academic year who is experienced and skilled in pastoral ministry. This faculty member must be committed to an approach to pastoral studies that is shaped by biblically informed theological reflection and cultural exegesis. The successful candidate will possess a high degree of cultural intelligence and demonstrate an ability to interpret their own cultural context and that of others. Preferred candidates should demonstrate a creative and highly motivated team member who enjoys collaboration, deliberation, and program development. The ideal candidate possesses a terminal degree and has a recognized platform in print and electronic media.
Teaching responsibilities will consist of 12 hours per semester and lie mainly in the undergraduate school, although the ability to teach at the seminary level and/or in our online venues would be an asset. Primary undergraduate teaching needs include courses specifically in spiritual formation, pastoral theology, and preaching, with particular emphasis on pastoral counseling and care for the church. Also expected is an eagerness to mentor students and perform faculty service, and enthusiasm for MBI’s mission and theological commitments. Experience in curriculum development is a plus.
