The Marketing Director, Spanish Bibles, is a strategic and tactical leader in planning and managing marketing activities in the various translations developed, marketed, and sold by the Editorial Vida and Editorial Católica imprints throughout the U.S., Mexico, Latin America, and Spain. This position will create and lead comprehensive campaigns, both online and offline, for assigned resources in conjunction with both internal and external teams. Areas of marketing focus include but are not limited to: brand positioning and messaging, metadata and keyword development, media planning and buying, email, social media strategy, live events, partnerships, retail marketing, and other relevant marketing activities that will drive sales
Reporting to the VP of Marketing, the Marketing Director will also be responsible for managing appropriate marketing budgets, monitoring ROI for activities, managing and optimizing specific brands/products lines, liasoning between marketing and sales, and assisting with overall marketing team initiatives, as assigned.
Editorial Vida and Editorial Católica, imprints of HarperCollins Christian Publishing, are leaders in providing the marketplace with beautiful Bibles, in multiple translations, for every age and stage of life. Editorial Vida is also the leader in publishing the widest selection of study Bibles including the John MacArthur, Vida Plena, Matthew Henry, Biblia Plentitud, and the Thompson Chain Reference Bible as well as specialty Bibles by John Maxwell, C.S. Lewis, and more. Key translations represented include the RVR, RVR 60, NVI, the NBLA, and Biblia de las Américas.
The preference is to fill this position in Nashville, TN but we are also open to qualified candidates that are located outside the Nashville area.
Essential Responsibilities:
-Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns for product lines to optimize sales for all front-list and backlist Bible projects and product lines.
-Oversee all areas of marketing and publicity, both online and offline, including, but not limited to: brand positioning and messaging, metadata and keyword development, media planning and buying, email, social media strategy, live events, partnerships, retail marketing.
-Manage additional marketing staff, including performance appraisals and effective coaching.
-Secure and lead external marketing partners/vendors.
-Analyze marketing campaigns and makes recommendations for adjustments and key learnings based on those results.
-Provide relevant metadata, including keywords, for new releases as well as update key backlist, as needed.
-Work closely with the product development team to contribute to overall direction of creative, packaging, and brand messaging, as well as recommend product development and modifications to take advantage of marketing opportunities.
-Present marketing plans and updates at key meetings with sales teams and other internal stakeholders, as well as external authors/proprietors, retail, and marketing partners.
-Manage budget development and expense projections for relevant projects.
-Attends relevant trade shows and conferences, as required.
-Assist in other marketing-related activities, as assigned by supervisor.
Work Experience/Knowledge:
-7-8 years of marketing, sales or related role, including at least 2 years of experience in developing marketing and publicity/media strategies across multiple channels, both online and offline
-Manage and execute product launches and integrated campaigns using both online and offline channels
-Hands-on experience with email, social media, and digital advertising strategy and execution
-Used marketing management tools and digital analytics tools
-Managed and led outside vendors
-Analyzed marketing results/ROI
-Understands the Spanish-speaking Christian market in the U.S. and Latin America, including differences between theological viewpoints and/or denominations
-Understanding of Biblical doctrine
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Bible Theology/Studies, Christian Ministry, or related major.
Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the Christian Bible market (denominational differences, Bible translations, etc.) are a must. Knowledge of publishing or other consumer content-related industry preferred (music, entertainment, media, digital content, etc.).
Skills:
-Ability to develop comprehensive marketing strategies that include both online and offline channels
-Significant familiarity with the organization and content of the Bible, as well as various Spanish translations
-Strong analytical and metrics-based decision-making experience
-Ability to source, guide, and manage outside agencies and vendors
-Ability to “sell” Bibles and Bibles-related product to sales team, distributors, retailers, and other gatekeepers
-Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with colleagues and vendors
-Experience in managing multiple, competing priorities, duties, and projects
-Strong organizational, time management skills
-Must be able to work independently under tight deadlines
-Must possess the skill to set priorities and problem solve
-Strong computer skills necessary, especially Microsoft Office
-Fully bilingual, able to read, write, and present in Spanish and English
The salary range for this position is $80,000 – $110,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate’s experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
