Open-Rank Professor of Apologetics

This is a permanent half-time or quarter-time faculty position, depending on the candidate’s availability and the needs of the department. We seek a scholar who can teach broadly and integratively in philosophical apologetics and who is enthusiastic about the discipline of cultural and imaginative apologetics. Special consideration will be given to emphases in pre-modern philosophy, philosophy of science, ethics, aesthetics, and/or philosophy of literature.

Job Responsibilities:
Teach 1–2 courses per semester, meeting all expectations for an HCU instructor regarding availability to students, timely and thoughtful grading, (online) classroom engagement, etc. (Full time faculty typically teach eight courses per year. Contract will scale with teaching load.)
Participate either in person or remotely in SCT faculty meetings
Promote HCU and the Apologetics Department in all speaking engagements or public appearances
Remain active in scholarship and research, preferably in the form of publications
Attend in-person major events in the academic year as directed by chair (e.g., Apologetics Day, A. O. Collins Lectures, graduation; these may be scheduled in coordination with teaching on-campus for hybrid or low-residency courses)

Qualifications:
Completed doctorate in relevant subject matter
Willingness to travel to Houston periodically
Commitment to the success and growth of the Apologetics program at HCU
