Description:
Isaiah 11 is well known for its presentation and prediction of the “Shoot from the root of Jesse.” He will have upon him the “S/spirit of Yahweh” as typically translated in 11,1. Beyond this, however, he will have several other “spirits” in 11,2, of wisdom, power, and fear. This begs the question if each spirit is the Holy Spirit, or if all or none are. Regardless, this paper will focus on a seemingly unnoticed chiasm in 11,2a-3a.
