In this paper I use the metaphor of a journey to describe and employ a theological method that accounts for Scripture, tradition, philosophy, science, culture, and experience. Particular attention will be paid to how one understands and interprets revelation using the overarching metaphor as a guide. A case study will be presented developing in outline form, a theology of human emotion, drawing on the sources mentioned and pointing toward avenues of further development. It will be argued that a robust theology of human emotion requires a theological method that can account for a broad diversity of sources across divergent fields of study that are all construed as encounters with divine revelation.
