The candidate completed his doctoral studies at the University of St Andrews, where he was awarded a Ph.D. in Divinity. The candidate’s doctoral dissertation comprised an in-depth analysis of the methodological principles and theological ideas of the seventeenth-century British theologian Stephen Charnock. Overall, the candidate’s expertise is in the areas of Systematic and Historical theology. He specializes in Theology Proper, particularly in the themes of divine existence and divine attributes, as understood in the period known as Reformed Orthodoxy. The candidate is also conversant with other subjects related to his research interests, such as theological retrieval for constructive accounts in Christian dogmatics, theological interpretation of the Bible, and the doctrine of God in contemporary theology.
The candidate has taught to a variety of audiences and in diverse settings. He has lectured systematic theology, apologetics, contemporary theology, and New Testament studies for university/seminary students and laypeople. He has coordinated in-person and online seminars where he has acted as a lecturer and discussion facilitator. The candidate is currently the Systematic Theology book review editor for a peer-reviewed evangelical theological journal, and until recently, the candidate served as Theologian-in-Residence at his local church in Colombia. The candidate speaks fluently Spanish and English, something it would be of great value for any globalized institution that welcomes cultural diversity.
